Originally conservatories were single glazed glass structures built on country houses for preserving tender plants brought to England by wealthy Victorian travellers. Back in the eighteenth century they often they brought specimen plants such as citrus trees from their overseas visits – hence the term Orangery.

Such facilities were refined throughout the nineteenth century as building techniques improved and glass became less of a luxury. The Orangery became a more practical and functional garden room to enjoy views of the gardens whilst remaining under shelter from the weather. As glass was mass produced and became cheaper still, the conservatory as we now know it began to take shape and was built on a wider cross section of homes.

Nowadays, conservatories and orangeries are becoming increasingly popular additions to all housing styles across the United Kingdom. Discerning customers however, were demanding more comfortable conservatories to use as something more than a glorified greenhouse. The invention of float glass in the 1960’s allowed double glazed sealed units to be manufactured and over time these have been refined to create energy efficient glazing as well as anti-sun and self-cleaning glass.

Now in the twenty-first century, a well-designed conservatory and orangery from Ecoseal not only provides an additional room but also enhances the appearance of your home. Designed to be used all year around, Ecoseal’s conservatories and orangeries have been used as an additional lounge, a dining room, a play room for the children and an office.

Finishing Touches

Ecoseal offer a range of finishing touches and additional building works extras for your conservatory or orangery to make it a comfortable ‘all-year-round’ room, which include: -

  • Double electrical sockets so that you can watch TV, listen to music or surf the web, or perhaps an outside socket for your lawn mower
  • Installation of light points, though we generally suggest that you choose your own fittings
  • TV point, telephone point, extension of your broadband or sky™ connection
  • Plastering of the base wall and house wall
  • Floor tiles of your choice installed and finished with a skirting board trim
  • Under-floor heating with programmable thermostat for all year round warmth
  • Paving around the base wall
  • Re-site kitchen waste, cooker hood vent outlet, soil stack, overflows, gullies and manholes

Frame Colours

Other than Brilliant White, frame colour options include Light Oak, Rosewood and Nut Tree woodgrain foils, each with an optional white interior and with an extensive range of door panels to match. In addition Ecoseal offer foiled frames in Anthracite Grey, Black Ash, Cream and White. For something really different, in the Decoroc™ range, Ecoseal also offer any RAL colour on the A rated windows and doors.

Decorative Glass

Many of our customers decide to individualise their property by including decorative glass features in their new windows, doors and conservatories. We have a wide choice of leaded glass, coloured lead, bevelled glass, Georgian Fret and Astragal Bar.

To further enhance your conservatory, Ecoseal also offers electrical sockets and lighting, floor tiling and under floor heating.

All new conservatories and orangeries from Ecoseal have the gutter and downpipes connected to either existing or new drainage, for example when a new gulley is installed along with the building work. As a no cost option, in line with our ecological stance as a company, we offer every customer a FREE WATER BUTT connected to your new conservatory instead of a new gulley. That way you will be able to collect rainwater from the roof of your new conservatory to re-use in your garden – just another way in which we are different from the ordinary conservatory company.
